Invest in Healthy Furnishings:
Look for sustainable hardwood or cork floors (ask about what adhesives or coatings are used) with organic or natural fiber area rugs. If you choose carpet, look for sustainable varieties with safer fibers, backing, and padding – and keep it clean without chemicals.

I only buy organic cotton when possible. I painted with Baby Safe Finishes paints. I bought an unfinished crib and finished it with Earth Safe Finishes No VOC Stain and Varnish. I finally bought an organic mattress that I did not have for my first child. I feel great about her room! It is so easy to go that one extra step to ensure a toxin free place for your baby.
