Facebook has a cool new application, and we’re really excited to be a part of it.
Facebook has just launched a new online classifieds application called Marketplace – sort of like a Craigslist for Facebook members. It’s a safe and trusted place for people to buy, sell, or give something away through their friends and networks. On Marketplace, Facebook users can also sell and then donate the proceeds to their favorite charity.
One of the advantages of Facebook’s Marketplace is that members are buying and selling with people they know, and it’s convenient because you can easily message friends and sellers about transactions.
So how is Healthy Child involved? The Marketplace is community-oriented and promotes selling on behalf of charities and giving things away for free. Any Facebook member can go to the Marketplace, post a listing and select ‘Sell for a Cause.’ Once posted, the listing will be distributed to their friends through news feeds allowing the seller to tap their social network for fundraising.

Thank you for your question! The marketplace page works by clicking on this link: http://apps.facebook.com/marketplace/ and then clicking on “sell for a cause”. You are then asked to type in the description of what you’re selling and click “post”.
Facebook will ask you to pick a cause and a percentage amount you’re donating. Click “submit” and it will ask you for a description, location, etc. for the item you’re selling. After about 30 minutes, you will be approved and the posting goes up in the marketplace!
