How can hosting a party make a difference?
You are more powerful than you think. Really. Studies show that people are more receptive to information shared by friends, family and peers than strangers. And this is exactly how Healthy Child began, with Jim and Nancy in living rooms and kitchen tables, educating other parents with their story.
At Healthy Child, we believe—like you do—that there is nothing more important than the health of our children. With scientific evidence linking chemicals to asthma, autism, cancer, allergies, diabetes and more, it’s crucial that we spread the word about how to reduce toxic exposures.
What started in 1992 as a group of friends joined together by grief has now become one of the most important public health movements of the 21st Century. Hosting a Healthy Child Party is a important step towards changing the way we think and act when it comes to children’s health.
I’m nervous about hosting. What do I need to know?
Don’t worry about it! If you’ve ever thrown a birthday party or baby shower, you have all the knowledge you need to be an amazing Healthy Child Party host. But we’ll also include resource information to help you feel confident about sharing this knowledge with your guests.
How many people can I invite?
The goal is for you to host as many as 15 people at your party, but you can invite less—or more! Just keep in mind that the Healthy Child Party Kit includes 1 Wake Up to 5 Easy Steps DVD for you to screen for your guests, 15 Healthy Child Healthy World brochures for you and your guests, 15 Mom on a Mission postcards for you and your guests, 15 Raise Your Hand for Kids Health! postcards and assorted product samples and coupons for you and your guests.
Where should I hold my party?
Don’t limit yourself to your home. Park and recreation centers, libraries, schools, stores and businesses are all great places to host a Healthy Child Party!
When should my party take place?
Set your date—within two months of receiving your kit, please, as some items are perishable. (Sadly, we can’t replace those that are past their due date.)
Can I use the logo for PR?
Yes, you can use our logo to promote your event. But please check with us first before developing materials beyond what’s available for download on our site.
Do I have to sell anything?
Nope. No. Nada. Our Healthy Child Party is about education and making a difference. The product samples are examples of safer options to share—not sell.
Can I charge guests to come to the Healthy Child Party?
No. We believe that this experience should be free of charge, which is why we ask only for a small donation to help cover our costs.
Can I host a party if I don’t live in the United States?
Unfortunately, we are not able to ship the Healthy Child Party Kits outside of the U.S.
What do I do if I have more questions?
Email partykit@healthychild.org or call 310-820-2030. We’re here for you.
Can I request more samples?
No, unfortunately. But the brands featured in the kit are available in most stores or online; please feel free to pick up additional products to add to your selection.

What's a Healthy Child Party?
Since 2009, more than 4,000 hosts have used our party kits to educate friends, family and co-workers about protecting our most valuable resource—our children.
The kit is one piece of the legacy of five-year-old Colette Chuda, who died from cancer linked to pesticide exposure. Her parents, Jim and Nancy Chuda, turned their grief into action and created Healthy Child Healthy World (formerly the Children’s Health Environmental Coalition) in 1992. We’ve been steadily growing ever since—thanks to parents just like you.
Filled with information and samples, the kit is valued at $300 and is available for a $25 tax-deductible donation.
