Alphabet Soup
My kids instantly recognize those Alphabet Soup TV commercials and ask for it. Luckily, they think my simple Alphabet Soup is the same thing they see on TV. I often make this when my kids feel under the weather and need something comforting.

Make It:
1. Sauté the garlic, onions and the vegetables till they are soft. Let them cool a few minutes.
2. Add them to a blender with the tomato sauce and some vegetable chicken stock. Blend until well mixed, but still chunky.
3. Then put it back in a pot to simmer while you boil water and cook the alphabet noodles.
4. Once the noodles are cooked, add them to the pot and serve.
Clean It:
Always try to purchase tomato or marinara sauce in a glass jar, not the can, to avoid any chemical exposure (including BPA) from the can lining. Organic tomatoes are shown to contain more lycopene, a powerful antioxidant, than conventionally grown tomatoes.
Green It:
Canned soups may be convenient, but they are less nutritious and have hefty environmental footprints. Save energy (and money) by making this soup in bulk and then canning or freezing the excess.
Make It Fun:
Carry on the ABC theme before dinner by teaching your kids to wash their hands for as long it takes them to sing the ABC song – that’s usually how much rubbing it takes to effectively remove bacteria and microorganisms.
