Intern With Us

The Healthy Child Healthy World intern program is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for those with a strong desire to be involved and gain experience in the non-profit sector as well as gain knowledge in the environmental health field. The intern will gain valuable experience by assisting staff in various projects.

Overall Requirements:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communications and organizational skills
  • Attend LA-based outreach events when appropriate
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, Social Media, and Google Products
  • Assist with general office management and admin tasks as needed
  • Passion to work in the nonprofit industry and with forward thinking for-profit companies
  • Commitment: 3 month minimum at 10-15hours per week, 1 school year max

Intern Positions

Programs and Research Intern

Healthy Child Healthy World is looking for a Programs and Research intern to support our main programs, including Shop Healthy, Easy Steps, Mom on a Mission and Healthy Child Party Kit. The intern will assist in development, communications and operations for these programs. This position will also execute research to support the development of educational resources. This position is a unique opportunity to join a small team and learn about nonprofit advocacy and programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Support our staff in the ongoing administration and support of our year-round programs
  • Research resources, potential partners and information for program implementation in 2023
  • Develop summary reports for corporate sponsors on the results of campaigns or involvement in Healthy Child programs
  • Organize and devise messaging for program-related social media campaigns

Requirements:

  • Highly organized and ability to think strategically
  • Self-starter and takes initiative
  • Strong writing and organizational skills
  • Ability to think both creatively and analytically
  • Social media and online communications savvy
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, Social Media, and Google Products
  • Research experience in environmental health, public health or related fields a plus

Marketing and Communications Intern

Healthy Child Healthy World is looking for a Marketing/Communications intern to serve as an integral part of the team by supporting communications and online marketing efforts. This intern will have a unique opportunity to learn non-profit communications and marketing strategies and will work directly with lead staff. Tasks include maintaining the blog, writing messaging content, and monitoring search engine marketing efforts. Interns will be also create and implement dynamic social media campaigns, and will learn how to track community engagement using social metrics.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with social media monitoring, analysis and creative content development
  • Assisting with marketing and communications research and implementation
  • Website and social media optimization; Online outreach and promotion using Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and more
  • Keyword analysis and assisting with tracking search engine optimization efforts
  • Organize and devise messaging for cause marketing campaigns
  • Help manage website content and updates including editing and proofreading as well as posting articles online
  • Event marketing and PR research

Requirements:

  • Background in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, or other related discipline.
  • Highly organized, with an ability to prioritize time-­sensitive assignments and an exceptional attention to detail
  • High-level writing and communication skills
  • Love of using social networking sites, and a desire to learn social media marketing tools
  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint
  • Familiarity with data entry and analysis preferred
  • Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop/Adobe Creative Suite preferred

Grants and Development Intern

Healthy Child Healthy World is looking for a Grants and Development intern eager to learn about nonprofit development including donor management and grant research. This position will assist in communications and operations of online fundraising. In addition, the intern will support programs and initiatives through identifying potential foundation and corporate grants.

Responsibilities:

  • Researching potential grant opportunities
  • Assist in donor CRM data entry and acknowledgements
  • Organize messaging and communications for online fundraising campaigns
  • Support planning of annual events

Requirements:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communications and organizational skills
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, Social Media, and Google Products
  • Social media and online communications savvy
  • Experience with donor database management and online fundraising a plus
