Leonardo Trasande, M.D.
Faculty in Pediatrics, Environmental Medicine and Health Policy, New York University; Visiting Professor, Centro Universitario de Ciencias de la Salud, Universidad de Guadalajara
Dr. Trasande earned a Master's degree in Public Policy from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government and an M.D. from Harvard Medical School. He completed a pediatrics residency at Boston Children's Hospital. During this residency, he noticed that residents rarely learned how to influence the policy-making process to improve the lives of children. As a result, he developed and established an advocacy training program for residents.
In his current work at NYU, he has the fullest opportunity to define the academic niche that helps further my career development, within a rapidly growing and thriving Department of Pediatrics. He has already built a number of collaborations with colleagues at three schools within NYU in which he brings to bear my unique talents and interest in children’s environmental health, an area in which there is tremendous opportunity for growth.
He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and he continues to practice clinically both in New York and in Boston.
