Actress, mom and Healthy Child Healthy World parent ambassador Tiffani Thiessen reveals her simple steps for a healthier family and home.

How has being a mom changed your perspective on healthy living?

I have always tried to live a healthy lifestyle, but having children really puts that as a priority. I want my kids to live a long healthy and happy life and showing them how that can be achieved is a top goal of mine.

When it comes to keeping your kids safe and healthy, where do you devote the most energy?

It’s hard to pick one area. But if I had to pick it would probably be healthy eating.

What are some favorite healthy foods in your house?

The vegetables and fruit we grow in our yard and our fresh eggs from our chickens.

What advice do you have for parents looking to make healthier food choices for their families?

Building our veggie garden has been such a big help in eating healthier. It has made it fun for our daughter, which in turn has made it exciting to eat healthy – picking her own veggies right from our own backyard. And for me, someone who has a passion for cooking, it’s made it so fun to cook seasonally.

What are some basic steps you take in your own home to reduce your family’s exposure to harmful chemicals?

Using all natural cleaners is an easy step in that direction.

What’s the best advice you’ve gotten as a mom?

The best advice I have gotten as a mom is to listen to your instincts.

What do you wish you’d known about healthy living before becoming a mom?

I wish I’d known more about GMOs and how they are in almost everything we eat.
